Pip has read the boat book three times.
Today it must go back to the library.
“Do you think another book is waiting for me?” Pip asks.
Pip has read the boat book three times.
Today it must go back to the library.
“Do you think another book is waiting for me?” Pip asks.
The library has tall doors and a stone book above them.
Pip squeezes Mama’s paw and steps inside.
The room smells like paper, wood, and quiet adventures.
Pip slides the boat book into the return slot.
Thunk! The owl librarian looks over the desk.
“Thank you,” she whispers. “Now someone else can enjoy it.”
There are books about oceans, planets, bugs, and bears.
Some shelves are much taller than Pip.
How can one little bear choose?
Then Pip spots a silver dragon on a low shelf.
Its wings curl around a dark mountain.
Pip opens the cover and finds a map inside.
A bell rings softly. Story time is starting.
The owl librarian reads about a dragon who is afraid of sneezing fire.
All the children roar, then cover their mouths to giggle.
At the desk, Pip gives the librarian a library card.
Beep! The dragon book may come home for two weeks.
Pip promises to keep every page safe.
Outside, rain suddenly drums on Mama’s umbrella.
Pip tucks the book deep inside the cloth bag.
Not one raindrop reaches the dragon.
At home, Pip piles cushions beside the sofa.
A blanket roof, a little lamp, and one soft pillow make a reading fort.
There is just enough room for two bears.
Pip crawls inside and opens the book to the map.
Mama peeks through the blanket door.
“May I visit your dragon cave?” she asks. Pip makes room.
